Privacy Policy

Last updated: December 2025

Introduction

Syxon ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what we collect on syxon.org (updates signup and feedback) and how we handle it. As Syxon products ship, we’ll update this page to reflect how they work in practice.

Local-first approach

Syxon is designed to be private by default and local-first:

  • When available, your work is processed on-device and stored locally by default.
  • Cloud help is optional and opt-in. When enabled, we aim to minimize what’s sent and make it explicit in the UI.
  • Encrypted backups (if offered) are optional. Encryption keys are kept separate from stored data.
  • Telemetry (if offered) is opt-in and minimal. We do not collect your note content for analytics.

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, such as when you join the updates list or send feedback. This may include:

  • Email address (if you subscribe or request a reply)
  • Feedback you submit (message text and optional context)
  • Basic technical data in server logs (e.g., IP address and user agent) for security and abuse prevention
  • Anti-bot signals when you submit forms (via Cloudflare Turnstile)

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Send you updates you asked for (and welcome/confirmation emails)
  • Read and respond to feedback, if you include an email
  • Operate the website and prevent abuse
  • Improve the product based on aggregated patterns (not by reading your private notes)
  • Comply with legal obligations

Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. No system is perfect, but we aim to minimize data collection and keep sensitive work local when possible.

Storage & Retention

For syxon.org, we keep subscriber emails and feedback as long as needed to provide the service (for example, until you unsubscribe). If you ask us to delete your information, we’ll do so unless we have a legal reason to retain it.

Cookies & Local Storage

We use a small amount of essential storage for basic site functionality (for example, an A/B test cookie and spam protection via Cloudflare Turnstile). We do not embed third‑party advertising trackers.

Telemetry & Analytics (opt‑in)

We don’t run a third‑party analytics pixel on syxon.org. If we offer opt‑in telemetry in Syxon products, it will be minimal, and it won’t collect your note content.

International Transfers

Syxon uses service providers that may process data outside your country. For the website, this includes Cloudflare (hosting and anti-bot protection) and Resend (email delivery). If we add optional cloud features in products, we’ll document the active providers and regions.

Children

Our services are not directed to children under 13 (or 16 where applicable), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Processing Indicators

In Syxon products (as they ship), we aim to clearly indicate when processing is happening locally versus in the cloud. Cloud use should be explicit and opt‑in.

Data Subject Requests

To exercise rights or request export/deletion, contact privacy@syxon.org. For cloud‑processed data (if any), we will forward requests to relevant providers as required.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited data with service providers who help us run the website (for example, hosting, email delivery, and anti-abuse protection), and when required by law.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal information
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to processing of your data
  • Data portability
